Like a sparrow in its traveling, like a swallow in its flying, so bad words said against someone without reason do not come to rest.
Dear Ones: Without Reason! In these troublous times, many word curses are being spoken over people and our nation without reason. The root cause is that someone’s opinions or policies are different from those who are releasing curses. Woe, to those who are doing this. Proverbs 18:21, AMP, explains, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.” Yes, whether good or bad, our words bring consequences.
Mistreatment Without Reason
Let’s bring this into our personal and practical experiences. Many of us have experienced unfair treatment or vile gossip without reason because we simply belong to Christ. Harassment on the job, being passed over for promotions and raises fall into this category of mistreatment. But this proverb reveals the truth of the matter. The unfair treatment and word curses will not decide our future or destiny because the Master will not let them come to rest and destroy our lives.
Joseph’s response to his brothers in Genesis 50:20, AMP, demonstrates this. “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present outcome, that many people would be kept alive [as they are this day].” Though without reason his brothers did much harm to Joseph, he spent the majority of his days as second in command over Egypt. Remember, faith and patience take us through the wilderness and bring us out as overcomers when we walk with the Lord.
Declare: “I do not accept or agree with the malicious words of others that have been spoken over me without reason or cause. Their words will not hinder me or destroy the plans the Master has for me, my family, or my nation. What was meant to harm me will be turned into a blessing: possibly a better job or promotion. I truly believe that the Lord is my Provider. Praise the Lord!” I bless you in Jesus’ name.
