The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound
Dear Ones: Who are Bound! In this chapter, Isaiah records the mission of Messiah. He came to free mankind from the bondage of the dark one and the consequences of the fall. You may ask, “How are we bound?” The bondage referred to here is more inclusive than just being locked up in a physical prison cell. It involves much more which includes all ailments and bondages: sicknesses and diseases of any part of your triune being: spirit, soul, and body. The magnificent work of the Cross left nothing out or undone to insure our complete liberty and freedom in Christ.
Our complete deliverance from the bondage of sin, sickness, and death is stated this way in Colossians 1:13, NLT. “For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son.” This means when we are born again in Christ our citizenship is transferred to the Kingdom of Light and King Jesus is our Sovereign. In Him we are set free to walk in liberty as children of the Light. (See Ephesians 5:8.)
This is awesome news. In Christ, we are to shake the shackles of bondage off and walk in the liberty He won for us through the Cross. We are no longer counted among those who are bound by the schemes of the dark one and his minions. This is truly cause for celebration. Now, we must walk in faith in His complete victory over every form of bondage that the enemy has tried to put on us.
May you declare today, “I am NOT among those who are bound; I am a free child of the Light. I am free from [name what has attacked you] because it has no power over me.” Celebrate and maintain your liberty by making this declaration every day. You are an overcomer and a child of the Light. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
