I wait eagerly for the Lord’s help, and in his word I trust.
Dear Ones: Wait Eagerly! The 1828 Webster Dictionary defines wait to stay and to rest in expectation and patience. Oh my, by adding patience into the mix it changes the way we are accustomed to waiting in this culture that demands instant gratification. The long lines at the bank, grocery store, or DMV offices do not engender the virtue of patience. The dark one loves to poke and harass us while we wait to be assisted in some manner. The tormenting voice of the enemy that focuses on time releases frustration and strife as we wait.
Wait Eagerly on the Lord
However, waiting on the Lord is not like waiting to be served at a restaurant. When we have filled our souls with the goodness and promises of the Lord, we can rest in the knowledge that His timing is perfect. We can eagerly anticipate His help and that it will be more than enough to take care of our needs. He knows His job, in fact, He created His job description. The poor harried waitress at the restaurant maybe new on the job and not familiar with what is on the menu.
In the times of delay when we are waiting on the Lord, our faith feeds on hope. When you search the Scriptures, you find many blessings are promised to those who wait eagerly for His hand to move. For instance, Isaiah 41:30 promises, “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
Resolve today to wait eagerly for the Lord to move in your life, your family, and your nation. Trust Him to be God in your life. Learn to let patience comfort you while you wait. Patience is a good weapon to use against the annoying voice of the tormentor who tries to frustrate you. Have an overcoming day. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
