7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. 8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
Dear Ones: Those Who Trust! If we trust in the Lord God, then we are surely blessed. But do we really trust in Him in every area of our lives? Do we look to our job as our source? Is it our education degrees or powerful family names that we trust in to advance in society? These are easy traps to fall into because of the way our culture is driven by those things.
However, when we trust in the Lord, then He will surely keep us through every storm. Like well-watered trees we will prosper even in the most severe drought. So, it is a wise decision to base our hope and confidence on His goodness and mercy. Our deep roots of faith will keep us securely tethered to the Rock of our Salvation. We will be like Isaac who reaped when the surrounding areas experienced famine. Then we can declare like David in Psalm 27:13, “Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.”
May you be counted among those who trust in the Lord. Like a healthy tree become an expression of His goodness among those who are in your household and spheres of influence. You are an overcomer. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
