There Was No Room

And she gave birth to her Son, her Firstborn; and she wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room or place for them in the inn.
Luke 2:7 (AMPC)

Dear Ones: There Was No Room! Bethlehem was crowded with people because of the census and feasts days. All of the inns were filled with people and unable to accommodate a woman in labor. Was this just bad timing or part of God’s plan of salvation that was established before time existed? It definitely was a part of the plan.

The birth of Christ fulfilled prophecy and established a prophetic foretaste of His death. Simeon prophesied in Luke2:34-35, “Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, ‘Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.’” At birth, He was born in a cave used to shelter animals used for temple sacrifices and placed in a stone feeding trough. At His death as the sinless Lamb of God, He was placed in a grave carved out of rock and laid on a stone slab.

Make Room for Him

The established religious authorities of Israel were intolerant of Christ’s teachings. Their words and actions revealed their hearts. There was no room for this teaching under their interpretation of the Law. Such intolerance continues today as we witness the way the culture tries to diminish the miracle of Christ’s birth, life, death, and Resurrection. That is why it is so very important to teach our children the true reason for the season. The Lord Jesus did not grow up to be Santa Claus.

May the words, “there was no room,” remind you to make room for the truth about Christmas. Open your heart to experience once again the awesome miracle of His birth. Share the truth of Christmas with everyone you meet. Let the light of His presence fill your soul with unspeakable joy. Have a Merry Christmas. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
