Then the Lord spoke his word to me: … 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14 He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’
Dear Ones: The Spirit will Tell! As we look at the Old Testament, we see how Jeremiah received the word of the Lord to direct him and reveal things to him. If we stopped here, then we might think that God only speaks to prophets. But then the Lord tells us in John 16 that the Spirit will tell us (believers) about the future. He will speak only what He hears the Father and the Son release to us.
In your prayer time, do not make it just a one-way exchange. Open your heart to the Lord and share what is weighing on you at the moment. Declare that you have come to Him because you know He has your answer and your peace. Then wait for Him to respond. You may hear His “still small” voice in your inner ear. Or you may feel His presence surround you like a cloak of peace. Suddenly, you might receive the answer to a difficult problem you are dealing with. But He will respond as you sit in His presence. The sensation of perfect peace and love will drive out all torment and fear. This is how you enter into the secret place close to His heart. There are many blessings promised to the ones who will wait upon the Lord.
May you sit in His presence expecting that the Spirit will tell you about your present and your future. He is called your Guide, Teacher, and Intercessor. Don’t let the enemy pressure you to hurry away; focus on Him. After all, prayer is communicating with the Lord. So, wait for His response. Think about these things this weekend. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
