For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Dear Ones: The Righteousness of God! That is who we are in Christ; that is how the Father sees us! This is truly amazing when you stop and consider all the ramifications of this statement. We have yet to completely plumb the depth of the true and amazing work of the Cross on our behalf. Righteousness by definition means to be morally right, free from guilt or sin. The Lenten season is a good time to meditate on why Christ went to the Cross. It was not for Himself, but for us. He did it because we could not save ourselves. Only His sinless blood could pay the price to restore us to the Father.
In addition to being cleansed from sin, the stripes and beatings He took provide for our healing: spirit, soul, and body. Righteousness or right standing with the Father enables us to go boldly to His throne to seek mercy in times of need. This is good news in these troubling times. We are not orphans but are joint heirs in Christ to all the resources of our Father’s table.
The evil one constantly challenges the truth of our righteousness in Him with his tormenting accusations of our past. But when we were born again, we became new creatures in Him and our past was washed in His Blood. So, don’t listen to the voice of the “loser” because his future is the bottomless pit.
May you rejoice today in the truth that you are the righteousness of God in Christ. If there is a need, then quickly repent for believing the tormentor’s words doubting this truth. In Him, you are an overcomer. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
