The Potter

The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.

Jeremiah 18

Dear Ones: The Potter! These verses reveal how the Lord (our Potter) works the clay of our hearts. If there is an issue with the clay vessel and it becomes marred, then He simply reforms it to how He wants it to be. In today’s society when a thing becomes marred, we are told to throw it away and get another. Too many times we follow this thinking with the people in our lives. We toss them away as soon as an issue comes up that is messy to deal with. But that is not how the Lord works.

He is the Potter, and we are the clay. He does not throw us away when things get messy. He just reforms and reworks with us as many times as need be. His is our example of patience and perseverance. Think about these things today as you start a new week. Challenges will come usually from our interactions with people. But remember, we are all works in progress. If we yield ourselves to the Potter’s hands, then He will form us into a vessel fit for king.

May you feel the gentle nudging of the Potter as He works the clay of your heart. Submit to His guidance and experience His favor and blessings every day of this week. Have an overcoming week. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
