The Lost One

Suppose one of you had a hundred sheep and lost one. Wouldn’t you leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it? When found, you can be sure you would put it across your shoulders, rejoicing, and when you got home call in your friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Celebrate with me! I’ve found my lost sheep!’ Count on it—there’s more joy in heaven over one sinner’s rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue.
Luke 15:4 (MSG)

Dear Ones: The Lost One! Can I get a witness? I was a lost one, but the Good Shepherd sought after me and brought me out of the darkness through the work of the Cross. Romans 3:23 declares, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Notice how the shepherd in this parable rejoiced and called for a celebration when the lost one was returned to him. Certainly, there was joy in Heaven when you were born again.

Even if we have been a Christian for many years, it is good to rehearse our testimony to others of how the Lord sought us in our wilderness times when we did not know Him. He carried us out of the wilderness of darkness on His shoulders and brought us to the safety of His Kingdom of Light. (See Colossians 1:13.) The Lord paid the wages of our sin in full with His Blood and brought us into His sheepfold. Our story needs to be told so others can hear and be encouraged to tell their stories too. Testimony services are now considered “old fashion” but there is power in our testimonies to encourage others. We are to testify as witnesses to His goodness and mercy.

Don’t hesitate to tell your testimony that you were also a lost one who the Lord rescued. Let the boldness of your words encourage others. May they come to understand that the Lord is good, and His mercy is extended to all who call upon His name. Be a witness to those who are in your sphere of influence. Your testimony is also a weapon to use against the lying voice of the tormentor who comes to discourage you. Remember, you are an overcomer. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
