Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
Dear Ones: The Eternal Rock! If you build your life on the Eternal Rock, then when the storms of life come the troubles will not overwhelm you nor your family. Matthew 7:24-25, explains, “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” These words were part of the Lord’s closing to His Sermon on the Mount.
Rock Solid
This sermon is not a one-off teaching but is the transcription of His teachings that He taught every day. When people heard Him speak, they were amazed as revealed in Matthew 7:28-29. “And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.” The closing to any good teaching session should stress the main points of what was discussed. Therefore, the wisdom of these verses was spoken to seal the importance of His instructions. They also included the promise that His teachings were rock solid and should be the foundation upon which their lives should rest.
The wisdom we take away from this verse is to believe that His Word is the Eternal Rock upon which our lives should rest. We are to trust Him and His ability to keep us every day: through the calm and through the storm. He has not and will not change for it is revealed in Malachi 3:6, TLB, “For I am the Lord—I do not change.”
Declare that the Lord is the Eternal Rock that your life and family rest upon. Trust in His ability to fulfill His words of promise to you. He is your Provider, your Healer, and your ever-present help in times of trouble. Rest on the solid rock of His Word today. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
