13 That same day two of Jesus’ followers were walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 As they walked along they were talking about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus himself suddenly came and began walking with them. 16 But God kept them from recognizing him. (NLT)
Dear Ones: That same day, Resurrection Day, the Lord came suddenly and began to walk with two of His disciples. They did not recognize Him until He broke the bread and blessed it. Since the Lord loves each of us as if we were His only child, He walks with us and is in us as we go through our day. We don’t usually recognize Him, but we feel His presence as He ministers to us on our way.
These disciples were going home to Emmaus. They were disappointed and confused. They just wanted to get home. This sounds like a drive home after a really hard day at work. We can all identify with this. But then the Lord comes suddenly to fill the car with His presence and the cares of the day fade away. Welcome Him to ride home with you every day. Ask Him to minister to you like He did on that same day long ago.
May the power of His Resurrection minister to you every day. Let the comfort of His peace drown out the words of the tormentor. It is a good day to remember these things. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
