Teach me how to do Your will, for You are my God. Allow Your good Spirit to guide me on level ground, to guide me along Your path.
Dear Ones: Teach Me! The Holy Spirit is our Teacher, our Advocate, and our Guide. He also intercedes for us as we travel the path of life with the Master. But a teacher requires a teachable student to accomplish their goal. Here we see that the psalmist is crying out for God to teach him and guide him. He also recognizes that his Teacher can smooth out the rough spots that lay ahead on his path of life.
Isaiah 40:3-4, NKJV, complements the psalmist plea. “The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth.’” Although Isaiah lived hundreds of years before the Master went to the Cross, he saw prophetically into the future and wrote what he saw and heard.
The encouraging takeaway from these verses is to ask the Holy Spirit to teach us about the Kingdom of God and our spiritual inheritance because of the Cross. He will not ignore a teachable and contrite heart that seeks, asks, and knocks on the door of the Kingdom.
Declare: “Teach me, Holy Spirit, about the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Smooth out my path of life by warning me of the dangers and traps ahead. Help me to walk worthy of the Master, every day and remain teachable. Praise the Lord.” Have a blessed day in Jesus’ name.
