35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? … 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Dear Ones: Separate Us? The Apostle Paul asks this question to draw the readers to reflect on their relationship with Christ. Then he goes on to give his personal answer to this question. He declares that he is fully convinced that nothing in the earth realm or spirit realm could separate him from the Love of God in Christ.
But what is our personal response to this question? Remember the parable of the Sower and the Seed. The cares of life, the strife of everyday living, the chaos of our times, and many other things can choke off our relationship with the Lord. This is one of the main weapons that the forces of darkness use against the children of light. Distractions, constant attacks on our bodies, our families, and our finances are attacks of darkness. They are like the little foxes that gnaw on the tender grape vines that eventually kill the plant. The goal of theses attacks is to separate us from the ONE Who is our answer to all of our issues in life.
How do we rise about all these attacks and keep our vital union with the Lord alive? By a decision of our freewill not to allow anything to separate us from Him. Full conviction about anything comes as an act of our freewill to stand our ground, keep our armor on, and trust Him.
May your answer to this question, “Who can separate us?” be like Paul’s answer. Make your freewill choice to stand in the evil day knowing that He is with you and will never forsake you. Have an overcoming day. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
