Salt is good; but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? “Have the salt of friendship among yourselves, and live in peace with one another.
Dear Ones: Salt of Friendship! We are familiar with salt: a spice, a seasoning and a preservative. But there is a spiritual saltiness that the Lord talks about in this verse. This God-seasoning develops within us as we follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We become tasty with the salt of His life. Psalm 34:8, NLT, instructs us this way. “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”
The salt of friendship becomes more flavor filled as members of the Body of Christ live in peace with one another. This spiritual salt binds us together as the love of Christ becomes predominate in our lives. First John 4:18a, NKJV, reveals to us that, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.” The torment of fear-filled thoughts comes to drain us of our saltiness. But unlike natural salt, our spiritual saltiness can be renewed by our daily communion with the Lord.
Choose to release the salt of friendship to all that you meet or do business with today. As you follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit, your salty quotient will increase. The preservative qualities of your spiritual salt will bring peace and harmony to every situation you face. It is a good day to be salty. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
