Rescuing Knight

I love you, God— you make me strong. God is bedrock under my feet, the castle in which I live, my rescuing knight. My God—the high crag where I run for dear life, hiding behind the boulders, safe in the granite hideout.
Psalm 18:2 (MSG)

Dear Ones: Rescuing Knight! David spoke the words of this song on the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He rejoiced because God proved Himself faithful. And David’s faith was vindicated when the Lord’s hand came to his rescue.

Consider, if the Lord did this for David under the old covenant, how much more is He willing to do for those who are in Christ. When we come to our Father covered with the Blood of Christ, He will move heaven and earth to come to our rescue. Christ is the solid Rock on which our faith stands. Our faith in Him is the bedrock that does not give way when the storms of life rain down upon us. He is our hiding place, our place of safety, and provision.

Did David receive instant rescue over night? No. He ran from Saul and his enemies for many years. However, while in the wilderness he learned about the rescuing knight aspect of God’s nature. When he followed the Lord’s strategies, he was victorious in every battle. David’s confidence grew with every win.

May you come to know the Lord as your “rescuing knight.” Let your confidence grow with every victory over the darkness that He brings to you. Camp out in His hiding place while the chaos of the attack passes over you and your family. It is a good week to meditate on these things. You are more than a conqueror through Christ Who lives in you. I bless you for a peaceful and overcoming week in Jesus’ name.
