Ephesians 5: 15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is
Dear Ones: Redeeming the Time: What does this mean? A. W. Tozer, a noted bible scholar, wrote, “When we kill time, remember that it has no resurrection.” We are to make the most of every opportunity especially in evil days. Colossians 4:5 confirms to us, “Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.” We may be the only Christian someone will meet or interact with. We are to be filled with the knowledge of His will so the worldly ones will come to know Him through interacting with us.
These verses urge us to take advantage of the days of our lives to do Kingdom work. Since we are called to be conformed to the image of Christ, He is our example. He said in John 9:4, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” He knew His allotted time for His earth walk, but we do not. Therefore, it is wise to use everyday to represent our King in our spheres of influence. This is why we must take advantage of His wisdom and spiritual understanding in everything we do.
May the words, “redeeming the time” come alive in your heart today. Allow the Holy Spirit to work through you to touch others as His wisdom and understanding pour out of you. Be encouraged, you are making great progress and its only 4 days into the new year. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
