Praise the Lord

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!
Psalm 150

Dear Ones: Praise the Lord! This psalm is a primer on how to praise Him. The Hebrew word for praise is hālal. It is exuberant celebration, to shine light, to boast and glory in the presence of the Lord. When David danced before the Lord, he was giving praise with all of his heart and his body. (See 2 Samuel 6:14.) Since the Lord said David was a man after His own heart, he must have enjoyed the way David praised him.

God created us with emotions giving us the ability to rejoice and celebrate His goodness toward us. We have control over our emotions and can choose to celebrate even when the world wants us depressed and forlorn. Praise is a mighty weapon the children of God have to defeat the agents of darkness.

When a spirit of heaviness wants to overwhelm you, use your weapon of praise to turn your focus on the One Who has the answer to your situation. Praise looks good on you. It lightens your face and enlightens your soul. The garment of praise is the attire you need to dispel a heavy spirit. You just need to choose to put it on and celebrate what He has done for you. Then rejoice with anticipation of what He is doing and will do for you in the future.

May you praise the Lord today as you put on the garment of praise. Let your spirit get excited about His greatness and compassion He has for you, your family, and your nation. It is a good day to celebrate being one of His children. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
