Personal Accountability–Heart Work

Personal Accountability

We pick up our study of the Sermon on the Mount to explore our personal accountability to do a Heart Work Checkup using the Lord’s teachings as our standard. Here is an excerpt of the video transcript which has much food for thought. I encourage you to watch the entire video.

The scribes and Pharisees were mainly concerned with outward appearances. They taught that as long as a person conformed to their fence laws and followed their ceremonial rules, that it was all that was required to be in right standing with God. However, the Lord Jesus challenged this premise and came to confirm the truth that God had revealed long before to the prophet Samuel that the Lord God looks at heart intentions when He judges. “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart’” (1 Samuel 16:7, AMPC). … If we are diligent to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the truth of our spiritual condition, then we can make appropriate changes in order to progress in developing the character traits of the “blessed.”

I hope you will use the scriptural references below the video to do your own study. The Spirit will guide you and lead you to the verses that will inspire you.
