Our Place in the Body of Christ

Looking back to the message to Thyatira, we realized that the Thyatiran church was not the only city-church that was being harmed by the unrestrained operation of the Jezebel prophetess. This corruption of the true Gospel message was not just a local problem that needed attention but was like a disease that if left unchecked would soon poison the entire Body of Christ. The Head of the Church came against this apostasy in an open letter to the seven city-churches of Asia because He knew what a threat it was to the entire Body. The strong language in His rebuke is meant to call the Church universal to attention and to be a warning of how He intends to deal with any similar situation.
Paul compares the Body of Christ to the natural human body in order to explain the mystery of the Church to the believers in Corinth. The Church is not like a man-made organization or business affiliation, but is a mystery set among men to show forth the wonders of our God. He is the only one who can take people from every tribe, tongue, and nation and join them together in love into one Body. The brilliance of this work goes far beyond even the wonderful design and marvelous creation of the natural human body and reveals the wonders of a spiritually constructed Body of believers joined together by His supernatural love.
