My Refuge

My protection and success come from God alone. He is my refuge, a Rock where no enemy can reach me.
Psalm 62:7 (TLB)

Dear Ones: My Refuge! A refuge is a place of protection or shelter, as from danger or hardship. God is a refuge for believers who run to Him in troublous times. The Lord Jesus is called the Rock of our Salvation: a sure foundation.

In His Sermon on the Mount, the Master explained in Matthew 7:24-25, NKJV. “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” In a real sense, the Master promised to be our refuge in the storms of life. Lately, many storms have assaulted us by weather, financial crises, rumors of war, and uncertainty of our national sovereignty. But the Lord promises to keep us from falling if we adhere to His ways and teachings.

Is this easy? NO! We must choose every day to stay rooted and grounded in His ways and teachings. A refuge is only effective if we stay within its shelter. David sang about staying under the “shadows of His wings” because that secret place was his refuge in times of trouble. Be encouraged to follow David’s example.

Declaration: “The Lord is my refuge and my strong tower. I am safe when I follow His teachings and return His love by obeying His commands. Like David, I run to the secret place of refuge under the shadow of His wings rejoicing in His goodness toward me and my family. Thank you, Lord for sheltering us.” Have a safe and overcoming day. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
