My Heart is Confident

My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart! … With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes.
Psalm 108:1, 13 (NLT)

Dear Ones: My Heart is Confident! These are the words of David. The title of this psalm is “Assurance of God’s Victory over Enemies.” When we are convinced and convicted in our hearts of His greatness, then we can sing even on the battlefield. The Psalms remind us of God’s delivering power no matter how menacing the enemy appears. The names of the enemies that confront us may be different but the source is the same—the darkness. When Adam fell the age of darkness began but through Christ the Kingdom of Heaven was brought to earth.

The Lord instructed us to pray for the Kingdom of God to manifest in the earth as it is in heaven. If these are His instructions then it must be achievable. He will never lie or lead us astray. When David was a shepherd, he faced the lion and the bear and defeated them both. The Bible does not provide anymore information on these two battles, but David indirectly does through his songs. He knew that only God gave him the help he needed to kill these wild animals. David’s confidence in God’s delivering power grew with each encounter. Finally, when he faced Goliath he did not doubt God would give him the victory.

As you travel the path of life with the Lord, your heart becomes more confident in the Lord’s power to deliver. Each confrontation with the minions of darkness is an opportunity to see Him defeat the enemy through you and for you. You are armed with the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. The more you use it the more effective you become in spiritual warfare.

Sing to the Lord, “My heart is confident in your power.” Practice swinging the Sword of the Spirit today. Cut down the adversaries of darkness that have harassed you. Rehearse your testimony of past victories. Be confident that you are growing stronger in Him every day. You are an overcomer. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
