My Defender

I find rest in God; only he gives me hope. He is my rock and my salvation. He is my defender; I will not be defeated.
Psalm 62 (NCV)

Dear Ones: My Defender! In our time and culture when we look for a defense counsel, we think of someone like Perry Mason who never lost a case. But truly we already have the Great Advocate (Defense Counsel) on our side. He bears the cost and weight of our defense against anything and anyone who comes against us. Our Advocate, Jesus Christ, is licensed by His Blood to go with us before the Most Supreme Court of Heaven. The accuser rales against us day and night trying to find a spiritual legal way to harm us. But Revelation 12:10 gives us comfort, “Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.’”

You hear people say quite often, “that is not fair.” They speak truthfully because the present fallen state of the world does not operate with fairness, honesty, or truth. But we are citizens of heaven and have the resources of that Kingdom at our disposal. In these verses David declares that God is his defender and only hope and his life proved out God’s awesome ability to save. So, when you are treated unfairly or falsely accused, go to your Great Advocate for your defense. When His power and favor are released to you, then even your enemies will make peace with you. (See Proverbs 16:7.)

May you declare, “The Lord is my defender, I will trust and hope in Him.” Be confident in the finished work of the Cross. Colossians 1:13-14, declares, “13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” You are an overcomer through Him. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
