The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Dear Ones: Like a Palm Tree! Palm trees symbolize victory, triumph, and peace. The cedar mentioned here is known for its tall stature, broad branches, and aromatic wood that is decay-resistant and insect-repellent. Therefore, this is an encouraging and comforting word we receive when reading this verse.
Like a palm tree, we are to live in the victory, triumph, and peace of our Master’s indwelling presence. Then we are to grow up as spiritual cedars: tall, sweet smelling, and resistant to the wiles of the dark one. These are things we should meditate on as we fill ourselves with the Word of God. Just like the palm and the cedar, we need water (living water) to keep us from drying up. The Master tells us in John 7:38, TLB: “For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water shall flow from the inmost being of anyone who believes in me.” The presence of the Holy Spirit becomes our water source that will never run dry as long as we follow His leadership.
Declare: “I am like a palm tree walking in the victory, triumph, and peace of Lord. Like the cedar, I resist the attacks of the minions of darkness and will thrive and grow strong in the Lord. Even in wilderness times, Holy Spirit quenches my thirst with the living water of the words of life. The sweet-smelling fragrance of His presence surrounds me wherever I go. I am an overcomer. Praise the Lord!” I bless you in Jesus’ name.
