Kind Words

Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
Proverbs 16:24 (NLT)

Dear Ones: Kind Words! Kindness is one of the fruits of the Spirit enumerated in Galatian 5:22-23. Therefore, when we utter kind words into the atmosphere, we are changing it for it good. They bring the attributes of His nature into the immediate situation that we are dealing with. Like honey, they carry a healing power against anger and strife.

The sweetness of kind words spoken from a sincere heart are also medicine for our bodies and souls. The tongue is a pen of a ready writer writing our words and their intentions on the scrolls of our souls. Sincere kind words are filled with life that is twice blessed. They bless others and us, too. We are instructed to look for the good in people. However, the old adage is very true: “If you cannot say something good then say nothing at all.”

Unkind Words are Hurtful

We can surmise that the opposite is true. Harsh and unkind words are bitter and do harm not only to others but also us. Proverbs 13:3, GNT, confirms. “Be careful what you say and protect your life. A careless talker destroys himself.” Why is this important to remember? Because the media is vomiting out unkind and lying words continuously. The more we listen to them the more they infect our souls and our health. We have a choice to use kind words instead of agreeing with the careless words of others.

Declare: “Lord, help me to see the good in others so that I can speak kind words of life over them. I know that the sweetness of my words will then bring health to my soul and body. Help me to set a watch over my words so that I will not sin against you or speak careless words I have heard. It is a good day to taste the sweetness of Your character. Praise the Lord! Have a blessed and sweet day in Jesus’ name.
