Keep On

“Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8 (AMP)

Dear Ones: Keep On! There is a common saying in our culture, “Keep on keeping on!” The Urban Dictionary defines the idiom this way: The act of doing what you have been doing but an encouragement to do it more. This idiom expresses the heart of what the Lord was saying to the crowd that surrounded Him on the mount. Persistence is greatly treasured in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Do we have to keep on keeping on because the LORD is hard of hearing? NO! Romans 5:3-5 explains, “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” The wilderness times of our lives give us the greatest opportunities to grow up spiritually, to become more Christ-like.

When we persevere in our asking, seeking, and knocking our hope and faith are strengthened. Just like you work your muscles to make them stronger, so does our spiritual persistence produce great things in us. Remember, Holy Spirit guides us in this keeping on business. The Lord Jesus knows the way out of the wilderness for He has already blazed the trail for us to follow Him.

May you resolve today to “keep on keeping on” in your prayer life and your spiritual quest to be more like Him. This wilderness time will not overwhelm you; you are an overcomer. You will emerge stronger and more like Him grasping the victory and receiving what you asked for. It is a good day to keep on keeping on. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
