Jesus wept.
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Dear Ones: Jesus Wept! Our Savior wept over Lazarus with his family. He wept with them knowing the depth of the loss they felt. But He also knew exactly what He was about to do. In John 11:25 He revealed to Martha His true identity and mission. “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.’” Then He went and called Lazarus out of the grave.
In times of loss, our Savior comes to bring comfort and peace to our souls. But the enemy wants to strangle us with unrelenting grief. This type of grief is like a boa constrictor trying to squeeze out the joy in our lives. But Isaiah 53:3 tells us that the Lord is, “A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.” He knows grief and knows that death’s sting is no longer a finality for Christians. When a Christian dies it is just a new beginning. We have the comfort of knowing that we will follow them.
Consider today the fact that Jesus wept with Lazarus’ family at the tomb. Then meditate on Who He truly is: the Resurrection and the Life. Know that the prayers you have prayed over wayward loved ones have not fallen to the ground. The Lord knows our weaknesses. He has factored all of that into His plans for our lives. Rejoice and be comforted today. He laughs with you and weeps with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
