In Times of Trouble

For the choir director: A psalm of David. In times of trouble, may the Lord answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm.
Psalm 20:1 (NLT)

Dear Ones: In Times of Trouble! David knew Who to call upon for assistance. Our Father is not hard of hearing. He always looks for opportunities to bless those who are in Christ. But we are, by faith, to call out to Him for the answers to our troubles.

When we rely on the wisdom of mere men for answers, there is no assurance of a good outcome. This is the pattern we see around us every day. But we are to be like David who knew for certain that God was the One Who could keep him safe from harm. If you want an example of this, then read 1 Chronicles 16 about King Asa. Hanani, the seer, rebuked the king for buying Syria’s help with treasures from the Temple. Asa had forgotten the way the Lord saved them in 1 Chronicles 14. Later Syria did much harm to Judah.

What is the takeaway we have from this verse? In times of trouble, we are to go to God first for wisdom, direction, strategies, and help. He knows everything about the situation and how to get us out of it in victory. David believed God was that powerful and big. How big is your vision of God?

Declaration: “In times of trouble, I will run to God first. I know He works through people, but I want to be sure to align myself with the right people at the right time. My God is more powerful and bigger than any of my troubles. He will keep me safe and blessed under the shadow of His wings. Praise the Lord!” Have an overcoming weekend as you rejoice in His arms. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
