Then Elijah talked to them. “How long are you going to waver between two opinions?” he asked the people. “If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!”
Dear Ones: How Long? This was Elijah’s challenge to the people at Mount Carmel. This was the place that God chose to call out Baal and his prophets. The people had to choose or in our current language “vote” using their freewill. In 1828 Mr. Webster defined freewill as the power of directing our own actions without restraint by necessity or fate.
Our freewill cannot be taken away by the dark one and his minions. He must manipulate us into agreeing with him. Because the power of agreement is where he derives his power from. We face our own Mount Carmel challenge today as we head into November 5, 2024. How we vote is recorded in heaven along with why we voted the way we did. How long will Christians neglect this important right to vote (express our freewill choice) that was won and preserved by the shedding of American blood? Don’t be like the people in Elijah’s day who did not open their mouths in response to his challenge.
How Long the Status Quo
We must keep in mind that God sent Elijah to challenge the status quo of his day. God intended that the people willfully choose who their followed. This was not the first time God challenged Israel. He had Joshua do it to the generation that came out of the wilderness. He is challenging We the People today to choose wisely for liberty and freedom that only He can preserve.
Challenge: How long will you allow the enemy to manipulate you into agreeing with him? Choose wisely to follow the Lord and His ways. Deny sickness and disease access to any part of your body. Exercise your freewill and choose the ways of the Lord: in politics, in your manner of living, and in your family relationships. It is a good day to be on the Lord’s side. You are an overcomer in Christ. Have an overcoming day. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
