17 God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. 18 So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. 19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
Dear Ones: His Promise and His Oath! Since God cannot lie, they are unchanging. He fulfilled His promise and oath to Abraham in His timing and His way. Abraham is called the father of faith because his hope in God’s promise was given substance as his faith grew over the years. He took refuge in God’s promise every time he gazed at the multitude of stars in the heavens. Abraham did not see the stars but envisioned the multitude of his descendants as God had promised and swore to when He cut covenant with him.
Hope is a strong anchor that positions you as your faith gets stronger and stronger. When negative thought bombs are launched at you from the enemy take refuge in the assurance of the unchanging nature of His Word. Search the Scriptures and fill your soul with them, especially the ones that pertain to your situation. Your anchor will hold firm as your faith is strengthened because you are anchored to the immovable Rock, King Jesus.
May you remember His promise and His oath to never leave you nor forsake you. Remember, He is an ever-present help in times of troubles. He is your Father that has numbered the hairs of your head. You are invited to go boldly to His Throne and seek His mercy in grace in troubling times. Have a safe weekend. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
