But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Dear Ones: Gives Us the Victory! In 1828 Mr. Webster defined victory as a conquest; the defeat of an enemy in battle, or of an antagonist in contest; a gaining of the superiority in war or combat. The advantage or superiority gained over spiritual enemies, over passions and appetites, or over temptations, or in any struggle or competition.
The Lord gives us the victory He won over all the forces of darkness. We have become more than conquerors through His victory. The Cross gave us much more than we currently understand. To be more than a conqueror means that someone else fought the fight but gave us all of the benefits of the win. For example, in Jehoshaphat’s day they picked up the spoils of war after the Lord sent confusion into the enemy camp as described in 2 Chronicles 20:22, NKJV. “Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.”
Victory—More Than Conquerors
Since our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, through Christ He is making us more than conquerors. It’s very important to remember to be grateful for all of the victories we have had in the past and for the ones to come. Jehoshaphat sent out the singers first to give praise to the Lord for His mercies endure forever. This is a good pattern to follow when we are in need of a victorious outcome.
Declaration: “I cry out for myself, my family, and my nation—He Gives Us the Victory of Christ in all that we do. His mercies do endure forever, and I partake of them today and every day. In Christ I am an overcomer and give Him thanks continually for every victory: past, present, and to come. Praise God for He is Good!” Have a victorious day. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
