You will make known to me the way of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
Dear Ones: Fullness of Joy! In 1828 Mr. Webster defined joy this way: “The passion or emotion excited by the acquisition or expectation of good; a delight of the mind.” He also wrote that fullness is “completeness; the state of a thing in which nothing is wanted; perfection.” Therefore, in the Lord’s presence our joy is a complete state of being in which nothing is wanted.
David penned this song to express his joy that the Lord God was guiding his every step in life. His life was not a bed of roses, but in all that he experienced he knew where to find joy: in God’s presence. Although David wrote this song many years ago, it still gives us the way to experience the fullness of joy. Isaiah confirms David’s words to us in Isiah 55:6, NKJV. “Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.”
Fullness of Joy in His Presence
Take time during this busy time from Christmas to New Years and seek the Lord’s presence. This is where the pressures of daily living are dispatched by the fullness of joy in His presence. Don’t forget the reason for the season of giving. Our Father God is the ultimate giver as revealed in John 3:16, TLB. “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Declaration: “Thank You, Father that I can experience the fullness of joy in the presence of my King. Every day I am determined to enter into Your presence to experience Your love and Your joy. Thank you for sending Your Son, Who rescued me from the darkness of sin. In this new year, I resolve to celebrate Your presence every day. Praise the Lord!” Have a blessed and safe weekend in Jesus’ name.
