Forgiving One Another

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

Colossians 3

Dear Ones: Forgiving one another is an act of faith in the One Who forgave us. Forgiveness is hard on our flesh because many times we are the truly offended party. It is not easy to forgive someone who has trampled on our feelings or mistreated our family in some way. But we are not called to forgive by someone Who has not walked in forgiveness. Remember, His words on the Cross, “Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.”

However, we cannot walk in true forgiveness unless the Holy Spirit walks with us. He is our Teacher and instructs us in the way of Christ-likeness. These are important things to consider in this age of intolerance and cancel culture. When we extend mercy and forgiveness, then when we need mercy and forgiveness it will be poured out on us. I am reminded of the verse, “Give and it shall be given to you.”

May Holy Spirit guide your steps every day on the path of forgiveness. Receive the freedom from inner turmoil and pain with each step you take in this way. Let the light of His presence bring peace to your soul. Have a great and safe weekend. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
