For if you remain silent at this time, liberation and rescue will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father’s house will perish [since you did not help when you had the chance]. And who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]?”
Dear Ones: For This Very Purpose? Esther ended up in the place as queen, but her life was not a bed-of-roses on the path to the palace. Then even as queen she was not free to do and act outside of the set parameters specified for the queen’s conduct. The previous queen was exiled over an act of disobeying the king’s request. Malachi, her uncle, posed a question about God’s purpose for putting her in the palace. Was she put into this position for this very purpose to do God’s bidding?
We know the answer to Malachi’s question as we look back on history. But let us look down the pathways of our lives and see with the eyes of Christ. Are we at this place in our lives for this very purpose of doing something unique for His Kingdom?
As Christians, we are members of the body of Christ. Each of us has an important role and purpose to walk as children of the Light in this sin darkened world. Our unique purpose may not be the same as Esther’s, but it is still important to the Lord. We are called to demonstrate his goodness to those in our realm of influence. There are divine appointments that only we are meant to accomplish for the sake of the Kingdom. Could it be for this very purpose you were born?
Ponder these words, “for this very purpose,” and ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten your understanding of your current circumstances. He is a willing Teacher and Guide. If He brings correction, then be quick to repent. Then follow His leadership and expect to see His delivering hand at work every day. You are an overcomer. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
