Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Dear Ones: Do Not Worry! Alas, that is easier said than done. But this was said by the Master and is part of the Sermon on the Mount. Therefore, it is a command. However, He reveals how to avoid worry: Seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
So, how do we do this? By following His teachings and seeking an intimate relationship with the Master. If we do not believe He is willing and able to take care of our needs, then why are we calling Him LORD? We have freewill and we are to use it to believe He will make good on His promises. David gives us a good example. In his darkest hours, he encouraged himself in the Lord believing that He was able to rescue him out of trouble.
Resist Worrying
Why is it so hard to avoid worrying? The fallen world system promotes worry every chance it gets. Worry operates in the same environment as doubt and unbelief. This enables fear to come in and take over your thoughts. Worry is the first step on the downhill slope to the place called destruction. That is why the Master taught us to resist worry and believe in the goodness of the Father.
Declaration: “I choose to obey the Master’s command: Do not worry. Instead, I choose to believe that He is able to take care of me, my family, and my nation through the troublous times. I look with the eyes of faith to my good Father and know I am coming out of this wilderness experience as an overcomer. Praise the Lord!” Walk in His victory today. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
