Die to Sin

He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed.
1 Peter 2:14 (AMP)

Dear Ones: Die to Sin! When we are in Christ, we become dead to sin: immune from its penalty and power. This is a big deal! The enemy wants us to reject this truth and give in to the constant temptations to sin. But one who is dead to sin, in truth, is beyond its grasp to hold us under its control.

There was a comedian whose tag line was, “the devil made me do it.” But the devil cannot force us, he must get us to agree with him then he will take the control we give him. There is an old truthful adage: “The devil will take you farther than you wanted to go and cause you to stay longer than you wanted to stay.” He is a liar and deceiver. He fights the truth of the Word of God because he knows the truth contained in it will set you free from his crafty traps.

There is a companion verse to this one in first Peter, it is Romans 8:2, AMP. “For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has set you free from the law of sin and of death.” When we die to sin, then the law of sin and death is nullified over our lives. Then we are to live for righteousness under the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ. If you study these verses by tracking related scriptures, you will see the truth unfold before your eyes.

Believe through the work of the Cross that you have died to sin: its penalty and power. Determine to live by the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ all year long. Come to understand that you are not only free from spiritual death but from sickness and diseases which are incipient (onset of) death. You are an overcomer, and this is your year to walk in the fullness of His complete victory. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
