14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
Dear Ones: The confidence we have in Him has its foundation in the Word. In order to know His will, we have to know the Word. The Lord Jesus is the Word made flesh. Therefore, knowing the Word is to know Christ in us the hope of glory. If we know Him and go to Him asking according to His will (Word) then we are confident that He hears us. If we know He heard us, then we know that we will receive what we asked for.
The Lenten season is a time of reflection and prayer. The high cost of our salvation is nothing to take for granted. The movie, “The Passion of Christ,” graphically makes this point. The Son of God went through all of it just for you, me, and anyone who will receive Him as Lord.
May your confidence in Him grow stronger every day. Let the power of His Passion build your faith in the completeness of the work He accomplished on the Cross. Consider, if the Lord is for you, who can be against you and succeed. Have an overcoming day in the Lord. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
