Circumcision of Christ

Colossians 2: 11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

Colossians 2

Dear Ones: The Circumcision of Christ is achieved through water baptism. It is a spiritual mark just like natural circumcision is a natural mark for Jewish men. It cuts away the old fallen nature from your soul. It is a wonderful provision given to us that continually works in us as we grow up spiritually.

Many times, we wear a cross to signify our Christian beliefs to others. But through water baptism we have been marked with a mark that is forever with us. This is a mystery that Paul revealed in his writings to help us understand the power of water baptism in our lives. Through water baptism we identify with the Lord’s death and resurrection. As we come out of the water, we are saying we are dead to sin and now live for Him: marked by Him.

Meditate on how water baptism is the circumcision of Christ on your heart. As you go about your daily duties, consider how this mark is working to keep you safe from the snares and temptations of sin. I am taking a break for a few days, so I wanted to leave you with some solid meat to chew on. Seek the wisdom of Holy Spirit as you think on these things. Have an overcoming week. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
