And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Dear Ones: Choose for Yourselves! Joshua put the question directly to the people because the choice was theirs. The wonderful gift of freewill or choice was given to the human race by God. We are free to choose our path in life: choose to follow the God of Creation or the rebel who robbed Adam of dominion. The enemy wants to influence our choices by whispering falsehoods in our ears against our loving Father.
Joshua and his family chose life, but he did not force the individual Israelite to follow his lead. He just told them how he felt. He loved his countrymen and wanted them to choose correctly so they all could prosper under the guiding hand of God.
Likewise, the presentation of the Gospel to the lost should be done in a way to draw the sinner by the love of God. As we go about our daily routine, the love of God expressed through us is the best witness to the lost ones around us. They will see the abundant blessings that come to us because we chose to serve the Lord. It is a good day to remember that our love walk and stand for righteousness has great influence on those we work with every day.
May you choose for yourselves this day to follow the Lord’s love walk. Remember His goodness toward you and be ready to give Him the praise for your blessings. Have an overcoming day. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
