He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. … Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
Dear Ones: Calmed the Storm! He not only brings calm to the midst of your storms, but He is in the storms with you. When reading these verses, we come to understand that throughout His earth-walk our Lord continually was fulfilling prophecies about Himself. If you read on in Mark chapter 4, you see the total amazement of the disciples when the stormy winds grew calm at His word.
Even though the Jews had the prophets’ words and the psalms, they still did not comprehend Who they were living with. Their eyes were blinded by tradition because of the many burdens of religious and Roman rules. They long for their Messiah, but they were expecting a political or military savior. When the Kingdom of God was manifested in their midst, it was almost too much for them to comprehend.
As we move our focus to this current age, we find ourselves in a similar situation. The desire to see the manifestation of the King and His Kingdom is strong in our hearts, but the delay has wearied us. The awesome power of our King seems to have been only in the by-gone days. But this is not the truth. He has never lost His power. The same one who calmed the storms in Mark 4 is the One Who dwells in you. Meditate on this throughout this weekend. Speak “peace be still in Jesus’ name” over the storms in your life. He is able to take care of all that concerns you and yours today.
May you realized that He is able to calm the storm you face today. Believe that He is still working in you, for you , and through you. What can this storm do against the forces of the Almighty One Who has numbered the hairs of your head. Be brave and believe He is able. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
