14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
Dear Ones: Bright Lights! When you allow the light of His life to shine out through you, the lost ones will take notice. As a child of God, you represent Him wherever you go. That means your demeanor, attitude, and manner of living should reflect the Holy One Who lives in you.
This is not an easy thing to do because we are surrounded with darkness. Even places that used to be filled with His light are being encroached by the spreading darkness. Arguing and complaining are having a field day especially in the political arena. Good is called evil and evil is called good. However, we are not of the darkness but are children of the Light. In this letter the Apostle Paul addressed people who were living under the Roman rule of evil Nero. Christians were persecuted and had to meet underground to have services. So, his words of instruction and encouragement are for anyone living through tumultuous times.
As a Christians, you have His authority to deny the darkness any influence over your heart. The encroaching of darkness wants to seep into your soul and to separate you from the One Who is your peace in the midst of the storms. Fuel the fire of His presence by sowing the seeds of His Word into your heart and mind. Use verses like this one to keep the fire burning bright.
May you shine as bright lights into every situation you encounter this week. Realize others are in this battle between the light and the darkness too. Give them compassion as you shine His love out to them in your words and actions. Pray for one another for this will strengthen the Body of Christ. Have an overcoming day. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
