But I keep right on praying to you, Lord. For now is the time—you are bending down to hear! You are ready with a plentiful supply of love and kindness. Now answer my prayer and rescue me as you promised.
Dear Ones: Answer My Prayer! This psalm of David is subtitled, “An Urgent Plea for Help in Trouble.” When trouble appears all around us, we can follow David’s example and go to the One Who is able to rescue us. The Psalms are filled with David’s testimonies about how God intervened in his life. Before and after he sat on Israel’s throne, David had troubles from foreign enemies and those of his own house. But he survived them all because he knew how to pray.
We can go to our Father and ask Him to answer our prayers. Because we have a better covenant than David had in his day. We are on the “it is finished” side of the Cross. Our Savior has given us the right to exercise His victory over the forces of darkness He defeated at the Cross. But we need to believe without doubting that His power is greater than what the enemy has.
David was a man of faith. When he approached God under the Old Covenant, he knew that God was able. His faith was based on the covenant that God cut with Abraham. We come to the Father under the New Covenant certified in the Blood of Christ. Our prayers of faith have their foundation on the Cross.
Petition the Lord today like David did. “Lord, answer my prayer. I confess my faith in Your ability to do impossible things for me, my family, and my nation. I know that there is nothing too hard for You to do, Father.” Then seal it in the name of your Savior, Jesus the Christ. I bless you with His great name. w
