Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.
Dear Ones: A Memorial! In 1828, Mr. Webster defined a memorial this way: that which preserves the memory of something; any thing that serves to keep in memory. The Lord’s design of our brains enables us to save memories of events in our lives. Some of these memories bring joy and others remembrance of trauma. In this case, the woman who anointed the Lord’s feet before His passion is to be remembered by all Christians for her act of kindness which is greatly respected in Heaven.
Memories are Powerful
Memories are powerful and when focused on the things of God, they are very good. In fact, the purpose of the sacrament of Communion is to remind us of the purpose and the completeness of the work of the Cross. Luke 22:19, NKJV, confirms. “And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’” This type of memorial releases great spiritual blessings and power meant to strengthen our faith. Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 11:26, TLB, “For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup you are retelling the message of the Lord’s death, that he has died for you. Do this until he comes again.”
Consider taking Communion on a regular basis as a memorial of the power of the Cross of Christ in your life. It has been called, “the meal that heals.” In times of trouble when you are unsure of your next step, sit at the Communion table with the Lord. Partake of the bread and the cup remembering He said, “It is Finished.” Thank Him for the completeness of the work of the Cross. Declare that no weapon of the dark one can prosper against you because you are in blood covenant with the Lord. Remember, the Father is always looking for an opportunity to bless you, your family, and those on your prayer list. Have an overcoming day. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
