A Great Calm

And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain. … 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
Isaiah 4:6; Mark 4:39 (NKJV)

Dear Ones: A Great Calm! When the storms of life rage all about us, remember these verses. Israel was promised a future that provided shelter from the storms and shade from the heat of the day. Under the New Testament, our Savior demonstrated His authority over the storms that seek to sink us. What a mighty God we serve!

When natural storms threaten our shores along with the searing heat of the day, there is a refreshing that comes bringing a great calm to our souls. We have been given the right to exercise His authority on the earth as revealed in Luke 10:17, 19, NKJV. “Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name. … Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

When we know the answer to the problem that confronts us, then anxiety and fear are replaced by peace and calmness of spirit. Think about these things as you listen to the weather reports and the news of the day. The Greater One is in the boat with you.

Experience a great calm as you meditate on His majesty and ability to calm the storms of life. Our God is faithful. He promised to calm the storms under both the old and new covenants. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. Use His authority to speak peace to the storms that rage against you, your family, and your nation. Remember, you are an overcomer. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
