2 The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined. … 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end
Dear Ones: A Child is Born! These verses tell of the advent of the Son of God in the flesh. In this season it is truly right to meditate on the Incarnation of Christ. When God stepped into a flesh body and was birthed through the matrix of the womb, He unified the nature of man with the nature of God.
John G. Lake said it this way in his sermon on the Incarnation. “The unifying of the nature of man and God is the crowning achievement of Jesus Christ. The reason for the cross was thus revealed. Man in God and God in man one and indissoluble, one mind, one purpose, one effort, one power, and one glory.”
Have you thought about these things? You carry a treasure in your triune being if you are a child of God. Through Him we have become new creations that carry and partake of the nature of God. He came as a babe to be the Lamb of God. Now He lives in you as the Lion of God. Let His Lion nature rise up in you as you face every day trials and challenges.
May the words, “A Child is Born,” bring you great joy and hope in this holy season. Rejoice in the celebration of His birth and prepare your hearts to receive all the benefits of the Cross for yourself, your family, and your nation. Have an overcoming day in the Lord. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
