Then those whose lives honored God got together and talked it over. God saw what they were doing and listened in. A book was opened in God’s presence and minutes were taken of the meeting, with the names of the God-fearers written down, all the names of those who honored God’s name.
Dear Ones: A Book was Opened! Every time we rehearse the story of salvation and remember the birth and death of our Savior, they are written down in a book of remembrance. In the natural we have keepsakes and notes that are precious to us. For example: a child’s drawing or a note; maybe a handprint of a little one who is now an adult; or a piece of jewelry given by a long past loved one. These are items of remembrance that we treasure. They may not be of any value to others, but to us they are like gold.
Our Father delights in our times of sharing the Word or talking about Him, His Christ, and His Spirit working in us. When we honor His name, it is not just a religious duty to Him that He marks off on His list of requirements for us to be good Christians. He delights to hear us honor His name in faith knowing that He is able to fulfill His Word to us, for us, and through us.
As the Christmas lights fade and are packed for next season, let us continually honor His name, His love, His Christ, and His Spirit all year long. The Word became flesh; the Word now dwells in us. Those are things to keep in mind as the year progresses. Let us honor Him by remembering to be grateful and faithful. Have an overcoming week as you honor our God. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
