Water Baptism

.

In this lesson we pursue the study of Water Baptism—one of the principles of the doctrine of Christ as listed in Hebrews 6:1-2. Water baptism is incorporated in the doctrine of baptisms listed in these verses. It’s not just getting wet in a formal religious ceremony. It is much more, a choice to be identified with the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection. Water baptism circumcises the heart leaving a spiritual mark.

Here is an excerpt from the video transcript to encourage you to watch the video.

Romans 2:28-29, AMP
The Apostle Paul teaches about the true circumcision that is the circumcision of the heart and not an outward fleshly sign. He compares this spiritual heart work to fleshly circumcision established by the Lord God with Abraham and his descendants in Genesis 17:9-14. Fleshly circumcision is a sign to the Jew—a permanent reminder of Abraham’s covenant with God and their participation in it. It is a personal mark that every Hebrew male is commanded to carry in his flesh; it testifies of his commitment to and identification with the Lord God. Circumcision is an outward sign that can be observed by other people, whereas the circumcision of heart is a spiritual sign that is supernaturally discerned in the spirit realm.
In addition to fleshly circumcision, the Lord God also dealt with His Chosen People about their hearts. There was a deeper, more important work that God wanted to do. (Deuteronomy 10:12-13, 16, NKJV) tells us, “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good? … Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer.”
