The Word Gave Life

The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.
John 1:4 (NLT)

Dear Ones: The Word gave Life! In Genesis we read how God created by speaking the words, “Let there be.” Then before He formed man from the earth, God spoke in, Genesis 1:26a, NKJV, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.” The creative Word gave life, and this life was His life. As Creator, He could only give from what He possessed and that was Life.

As we read the first chapter of John, the mystery of the Word is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. This life-giving Word became flesh and walked among mankind as Emmanuel: God with us. His life brought the Light of God into a sin darkened world. And everyone who receives Him receives His life and light. This is why the Master told His disciples in John 14:6, NKJV, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

He Gives Life

The dark one comes attacking the life and light of God dwelling in believers through lies and deception. He does not possess these qualities because through rebellion and pride, he was separated from these attributes he once had. Therefore, when you see the absence or opposite of life and light, then you are discerning the works of the evil one. But believers do not have to fear the darkness because they carry the life and light of Christ in their triune being.

Declare: “Father, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Word and that the Word gave life and light to mankind. My heart overflows with gratitude and thanksgiving for the gift of His life living in me. Help me to be an expression of His life to those around me as I go about my daily duties. I do not fear the darkness because the light of His presence lights my every step. Praise the Lord!” Have a blessed and bright day in Jesus’ name.
