Never let yourself think that you are wiser than you are; simply obey the Lord and refuse to do wrong. If you do, it will be like good medicine, healing your wounds and easing your pains.
Dear Ones: Simply Obey the Lord! This proverb cuts through to the core of what is needed if we are to live in divine health. But is obedience really that simple? It appears that it might be, but then there is the wild factor of our freewill. In addition, there are the persistent thought bombs of the enemy that try to stir up pride and strife. When we get an overblown opinion of our personal wisdom, we are easy prey for pride to rise up.
Pride can hinder our healing in more ways than one. It colors our perception or understanding of the Scriptures. When we read familiar verses and think there is nothing more to learn from them, that is pride lurking at the door. Pride is also a catalyst that leads to the hardening of our hearts. This can result in a superiority complex and an elitest manner of dealing with the brethren. The poison of pride will eventually wreak havoc in our physical bodies.
But we have the antidote revealed in these verses that is to humbly and simply obey the Lord. By doing so, we are admitting that the Lord’s wisdom and ways are the good medicine that we need. This medicine works on us spiritually and physically. It is available to us any hour of the day or night. The great gift of repentance is one that we need to take advantage of very often.
Declare: “Today, I choose to simply obey the Lord. In doing so I release the good medicine contained in His Word. This medicine heals my emotional, physical, and spiritual wounds that have afflicted me. With a humble heart, I thank You, Lord, for Your great wisdom and mercy toward me, my family, and my nation. Praise be to You, always.” Have a healthy and happy day in Jesus’ name.
