Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
Dear Ones: Greater Love! The Master said these words on the night He was betrayed before He was taken by the soldiers. He was preparing them for what was to come. However, His words ring true for every believer throughout the ages. Since the wages of sin is death, He paid for the sin of mankind on the Cross because of that “greater love” He spoke of.
On the anniversary of D-Day, we need to be reminded that the liberty and freedoms we enjoy came at a very high price. The men and women who died that day laid down their lives for the greater cause of freedom. One day my dad, a WWII veteran, asked. “Why did we go, if people treat our freedoms so lightly?” My sister replied, “Dad, your generation stood up and pushed back the evil that was trying to take over the world. Now, it is our turn to stand, today.”
When we remember the sacrifice of so many people on D-Day, let us be sure to thank our Master because He is the true source of our desire for liberty and freedom. Our Master completed His mission to defeat death, hell, and the grave for every man, woman, and child. The battle between light and darkness (good versus evil) continues today. But the power of “greater love” burns deep within our hearts, because that is where the Master lives.
Have a blessed and thankful day in Jesus’ name.
