Never Grow Discouraged

He told them a parable, urging them to keep praying and never grow discouraged.
Luke 18:1a (VOICE)

Dear Ones: Never Grow Discouraged! These are words spoken by the Master to encourage all of His followers to keep praying. The parable was about the woman petitioning the unjust judge to help her against her adversaries. However, when we pray to our Father in Jesus’ name, we are not approaching an unjust judge. We are petitioning Justice, Himself.

In the parable, the unjust judge ruled in favor of the woman because of her persistence and his weariness to continually hear her. But the Lord revealed the Father’s perspective in Luke 18:6-8, NKJV. “Then the Lord said, ‘Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?’”

Faith Not Discouragement

Your prayer life must be mixed with faith in the Lord’s ability to take care of your needs and concerns. Faith acts like a catalyst, which is an agent that provokes or speeds significant change or action. If faith and its companion hope are not driving agents in your prayer life, then your prayers become ineffective. Remember, the women knew in her heart that the unjust judge was the one who could avenge her against her adversaries.

Let the words of the Master, “never grow discouraged,” build up your prayer life. As faith and hope activate your words, know that the Father is always listening. May Hebrews 11:6, NJKV, encourage you today. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Be diligent, persistent, and confident in His ability to take care of what concerns you today. You are an overcomer. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
